Register and sign using Digidentity

Adobe Acrobat Sign cloud signatures are digital signatures where the sign or certificate is hosted in the cloud, allowing the holder to sign from any device with a browser. To obtain a Digidentity digital certificate, you must first verify your identity using Digidentity’s remote registration process. NFC chip reading is required for qualified digital certificates. Without NFC chip reading, only an advanced level digital certificate can be achieved. Once you have completed registration, you will have a Digidentity certificate that you can use to apply a cloud signature using the Digidentity app. The signing process begins with the user receiving an email requesting a signature on a document. Note that the Digidentity registration process can also take place separately in advance of a document signing workflow, if it’s necessary.

Once the document opens, select the click to digitally sign field to enter your signature.

Select the maximize button to expand the browser. Returning users are invited to log into the Digidentity app. In this particular scenario, we’ll register as a new user. Select register to create a new user account. Enter your email address and a password. Agree to the terms and conditions and privacy policies. And then select create your account. You’ll then be prompted to confirm your email address. You’ll receive an email from Digidentity with a code in it. Type in the confirmation code, and then select confirm email address. This is the beginning page of the registration process. Select start the registration to proceed. Note that if you’re using a coupon or sharing a coupon with someone, it will be applied at the end of the registration. Now we need to add two-factor authentication. To do this, we need to download the Digidentity app. The app is downloadable for both Android and iOS. Once downloaded, use the scan a QR code option to scan the QR code displayed on the screen. Select continue to allow access to the camera. Now we need to create a smart card. This will be used as a key to your online identity, and it’ll be tied to the device. Before we start, we need to enable notifications. To secure the smart card, create a five digit pin.

Now you have a Digidentity user profile connected to the secure Digidentity app, and you can proceed through the ID verification process to generate your sign-in certificate. Select done when you’re finished. Next, you’ll be asked to submit a copy of an identity document using the Digidentity mobile app. Please note that for QES, you must use a national ID card or passport with an NFC chip. Have your document and Digidentity mobile app ready, and then click upload your identity document. To begin, we use the scan QR option to scan the code displayed on the webpage. Next, we use a passport for the identity document.

You are now ready to scan your passport using the camera on your mobile device. Tap continue. You’ll see an easy to follow animated instruction to scan the main page details of your passport. Tap next to continue. As instructed, position a camera over the main page aligning the rectangular box with the code below your photo. The code will turn green in the camera when aligned and scanned. The Digidentity app will automatically move to the next step. You will then see another easy to follow animated instruction on how you should open the passport to the last page to scan the NFC chip using your mobile device’s NFC sensor. Tap start reading. When the identity document scanning is complete, your picture and other identity information will be displayed. Note that if your passport or photo do not allow for NFC chip reading, you can still proceed, but the Digidentity certificate will only be AES advanced level. Tap continue. Next, you’ll be prompted to take a series of selfies to confirm what is often referred to as aliveness detection. Follow the prompts on the app screen, and you’ll be guided by a blue head to move your head side to side and up and down. The app will capture specified frames from this aliveness detection video. The next screen will show you a photo of yourself, and you can also retake this photo if preferred. This photo along with other elements from your aliveness detection video will be compared to the photo on your identity document to verify that it is you. Tap use this photo to proceed. The app will upload your identity documents to Digidentity, and then tap done to return to the website for further instructions to complete your registration. To complete signing, select click to sign. You’ll be prompted to authorize your signature in the Digidentity app. Tap sign in the app to continue. And once again, provide your five digit pin to authorize your signature on the document.

Your document is now signed with your Digidentity digital signature. To view the details, select download a copy of the signed document. Upon opening the document at Acrobat or Acrobat Reader, you’ll see the blue bar at the top of the document showing that the signed document was certified by Adobe Sign and all signatures are valid. Select the signature panel to view additional details on digital signatures applied and an audit log history for this particular document.

In the signature panel, you can see the green check mark in front of each digital signature, which is a visual indication that the chain of trust is verified. You can also expand each digital signature line for additional verification details including the change history of the document, as well as information about the time the agreement was signed, chain of trust, and signer details.
